Maria Peace is a proud Washingtonian and the first generation of her Dominican Republic-born parents. Maria holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication and a Graduate degree in International Trade from Trinity Washington University. She serves as the Project Manager and Director of Operations alongside her husband, for their minority-owned construction development company in Washington, DC. Before becoming a full-time entrepreneur, Maria served as a Legislative Liaison for General Electric’s Research & Development.

Maria has consistently viewed libraries as valuable hubs of resources and benefits for individuals and communities. Raised in a Spanish-speaking household and eager to learn English, Maria was fascinated with being able to regularly visit her local library to complete homework assignments, collaborate with classmates, and discover a quiet space for clarity and focus. Libraries serve as dynamic and inclusive spaces that contribute significantly to education, community building, and the dissemination of knowledge.

Maria lives in Hillcrest's Ward 7 with her husband Roger Peace, daughter (4-year-old Lincoln Isabela Peace), and their dog, Mr. Bentley. She enjoys taking family walks, cooking, and cherishing meaningful moments with both family and friends.
