The DC Punk Archive Turns 5!

The DC Punk Archive turns 5 this year! We'll be commemorating the occasion in a couple of different ways throughout the month of October — first with a screening of the documentary Punk the Capital at Suns Cinema on Saturday, October 5, and then with an open house and outdoor celebration at Georgetown Library on Saturday, October 12.

DC Public Library's DC Punk Archive began in 2014. Since then, we have received and continue to accept donations of personal collections that include materials in various formats, including photographs, zines, books, records, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, videos, live recordings, flyers, posters, set lists, letters, tickets, buttons, and other ephemera. To learn more about the collections, programming and community engagement, and preservation and access, please visit https://www.dclibrary.org/punk.

The DC Punk Archive is currently available to view by appointment in the Peabody Room at Georgetown Library. If you're interested in setting up an appointment, reach out to us via e-mail at wash.dcpl@dc.gov. Some items from the collections have also been digitized and are available on our web portal for selected digitized and born-digital collections, Dig DC.
