Staff Pick: "Capturing the Devil" by Kerri Maniscalo

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth prefers working in her uncle's laboratory than high society. Thomas Cresswell is an assistant in her uncle's laboratory, providing forensic evidence to the London police. Together they have solved difficult and dangerous cases.

As Capturing the Devil opens, Audrey Rose and Thomas have the opportunity to attend the World's Fair in Chicago. The city is a different place than London but the streets are no less dangerous. When a serial killer strikes, Audrey Rose and Thomas offer to help. It's a race to find the murderer leading to a dramatic showdown in a notorious hotel. Archival images are included, and a historical note from the author follows the text.

I enjoyed following Audrey Rose's story since the beginning. It's a challenge for her to balance being a high society lady and solving crimes in Victorian England. With Thomas at her side, Audrey Rose can accomplish anything. The complete Stalking Jack the Ripper series is available to download on Overdrive.
