We live in stressful times, and while adults may feel it acutely, children are not immune to the stressors of school, family, friendships and internal pressures. Whether toddler or tween, kids can benefit from mindfulness practices, meditation and yoga. Lots of videos exist online on these practices for all ages, but these nine books address mindfulness, meditation and yoga especially for young readers and provide unique ways to incorporate mindfulness activities into daily life all while building a love for reading and books!

Breathe Like a Bear by Kira Willey
Looking for a way to incorporate small moments of mindfulness into your day? Check out this book with guided meditations and mindful moments. There are 30 total that walk through different techniques all while drawing your young reader in with beautiful animal illustrations. 

Meditate with Me by Mariam Gates
If you meditate and want to introduce the practice to your child, or if you’re both discovering it for the first time, this is a great beginner’s book. This book teaches the art of meditation from the very basic first steps through moments of focus and beyond. The audiobook version is especially good for at-home meditation practice. 

This Moment is Your Life (And So Is This One) by Mariam Gates
If you enjoyed the previous book, you may also like this family book by the same author that incorporates mindfulness, meditation and yoga for all ages. This book is geared for tweens and teens, but could be accessible for the whole family with supervision. It’s chock full of colorful artwork and illustrations and will provide endless opportunity for incorporating a mindfulness practice into your daily life. 

I am Yoga by Susan Verde
This adorable, illustrated picture book introduces young readers to the ideas behind yoga and introduces them to some of the basic poses that they can do at home. Verde’s writing is poetic, the illustrations are engaging, and children from preschool to elementary will get something out of the book. 

Yoga for Kids by Susannah Hoffman
If you really want to bring the practice of yoga into the home, try this book of activities and exercises that will introduce kids to downward dog, corpse pose, tree pose and more. This book isn’t just about physical poses though, and includes lots of other mindfulness activities for all ages. 

Just Breathe by Mallika Chopra
Chopra, a wellness expert in her own right and the daughter of Deepak Chopra, brings mindfulness to older children, ages 8 to 12. This book is full of exercises that teach them how meditation and breathing can help them combat daily stress, anxiety, sleeplessness and help them in school. 

I am Peace by Susan Verde
Kids struggling with stress or anger may benefit from this Susan Verde picture book about finding inner peace and connecting with the Earth. With watercolor illustrations and poetic writing, this book is great for introducing concepts of mindfulness in short moments or before bedtime. 

You Are a Lion! by Taeeun Yoo
Bring mindful yoga poses into your routine with this book that is perfect for animal loving children. Whether you’re working on animal sounds of simply trying to combat stressful situations, this book can help you reach new heights with your practice and is perfect for young kids but can be adapted for older ones as well.

This beautifully illustrated picture book brings mindful poetry into your home and the idea of breathwork to younger readers. Ideal for preschool and early elementary books, this is great for bedtime or for calming storytime activities.
