Reopening: Phase Three

The Library will continue to offer and expand services outlined in Phase 2 as well as add programming, such as story times, that adhere to public health requirements. During Phase 3, there will be controlled access to ensure that no more than 250 people will gather in a publicly-accessible space within the library and no more than 75 percent capacity is reached in a publicly-accessible space within the library with social distancing. Also, Friends groups will have full access to their space within the library with social distancing protocols in mind. Coordination with the branch staff is required.

Customers will be able to:
 
  • Access limited study room space
  • Access limited lounge space
  • Access a limited number of public computers for timed sessions
  • Full-service printing
  • Pick up remote print jobs
  • Pick up holds
  • Return library materials
  • Participate in limited programming, such as story times
Phase-in services at the following libraries:
 
  • Group 1: Anacostia, Benning, Cleveland Park, Mt. Pleasant, Northeast, Shepherd Park, West End and Woodridge
  • Group 2: Bellevue, Capitol View, Francis A. Gregory, Petworth, Shaw and Tenley-Friendship
  • Group 3: Chevy Chase, Georgetown and Palisades
  • Group 4: Southeast, Deanwood, Rosedale, Parklands-Turner, Northwest One, and Takoma. These libraries will open later in Phase 3 with limited services based on their size.
*The Lamond-Riggs Interim Library will open later in Phase 3.
