Get Holiday Tips from the DC Public Library
This year will be very different for people who are used to traveling or gathering in large groups for the holiday season. For some, this year may be the first time cooking a holiday meal at all, or in a long time. For others, holiday games and activities may have been someone else's strong suit. To help people make the most of their socially-distanced celebrations, the DC Public Library is organizing its digital resources into themed categories for a campaign called Holidays at Home DC.
Through the end of the year, the Library will share eBook, digital magazine, eVideo or online course recommendations on its social media platforms. Each week will focus on a different theme like cooking, do-it-yourself holiday crafts and New Year's resolutions. The recommendations will come from goDigital, the DC Public Library's online collection, which houses more than 15 million free online movies, eBooks, music and other resources. Library users are also encouraged to share their ideas and tips on the Library's social media platforms using the hashtag #HolidaysAtHomeDC.
The themes for the campaign are:
- Week 1: Nov. 23 - Taste of Home: Cookbooks and Recipes
- Week 2: Nov. 30 - Shopping Tips: Consumer Reports
- Week 3: Dec. 7 - DIY Holidays Crafts
- Week 4: Dec. 14 - Holiday Entertainment
- Week 5: Dec. 21 - The Holidays in DC from The People's Archive
- Week 6: Dec. 28 - New Year's Resolutions
