In the News: The People's Archive and the Real World History Class
Recently, Center for Inspired Teaching donated oral histories to Dig DC, the online portal maintained by the Library’s People’s Archive. The oral histories were collected as part of a class called "Real-World History." Students learn about the Great Migration by reading Isabel Wilkerson's "The Warmth of Other Suns." Then, the students spend a semester creating an oral history of a person who migrated from the Jim Crow South to the D.C. Region. In today's Washington Post, John Kelly wrote about the program and its impact on the students.
