Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and National Bike Month this May with the Library.

Tune in to DC Public Library's YouTube channel or Facebook Live channel (as noted) every school day at 4 p.m. for fun and educational after-school live events and videos. Programs and content will cover themes related to STEM/STEAM, history, culture and so much more. These programs are recommended for school-aged children and teens and their families.


May 3 – Cinco de Mayo
Students learn historical and fun facts about Cinco de Mayo.

May 5 – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mr. Lilo
Enjoy original music and traditional songs in English and Spanish on Facebook Live.

May 6 – DC Quiz Time
Learn fun facts about Washington, D.C. 

May 7 – Mindfulness Story Time on Facebook Live
Settle in for a series of mindfulness story time to connect with your senses, learn about the practice of mindfulness, move your
bodies and read a mindful story.  

May 12 - Reader's Theatre
Join us for a retelling of The Wise Old Woman by Yoshiko Uchida on Facebook Live.

May 13 – I spy with DCPL
Play along with a friend and enjoy a game of I Spy!

May 14 – Mindfulness Story Time on Facebook Live

May 17- Mad Libs Mondays 
Grab a pencil and some paper, and get ready to develop your wacky wordplay! 

May 19 – Discover SCIENCE with Dr. Bear
Learn about your lungs through a lesson inspired by Children's National Hospital Discover SCIENCE with Dr. Bear program.


May 20 – Origami & A Story
Hear the story Dumpling Dreams: How Joyce Chen Brought the Dumpling from Beijing to Cambridge and make an Origami Basket

May 21 – Mindfulness Story Time on Facebook Live

May 24 – Cold-blooded Animal Quiz
Learn about reptiles and amphibians and test your knowledge as you go through the video.


May 26 – Create a collage using a fun quick craft

May 27 – Balancing Butterflies
Using common household objects, create enchanting butterflies that balance and flutter on their own.
 
May 28 – Bike Safety Tips for Kids 
Learn basic bike safety tips for children and their families.
