Know Your Power Author Talk and Awards Ceremony

Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, 3 p.m.

Join us in auditorium of the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Library as we recognize teen artists, particularly those who submitted to the Know Your Power civic engagement arts contest.

3 P.M. | Author talk with Politics & Prose and Tyler Gordon 

The author event will be broadcast live from the Martin Luther King Memorial Library in the auditorium as part of DCPL's Reopening Day open house. Audience members during the live broadcast will receive a free copy of Tyler Gordon's new book, We Can: Portraits of Power. These books are generously donated by the District of Columbia Public Library Foundation.

4 P.M. | Awards ceremony. Winners of the Know Your Power contest announced! This portion of the event will be available to watch on our YouTube at later date. 

The D.C. Public Library’s Know Your Power contest is sponsored by Pepco and the Library FoundationTeens were invited to submit an original work of writing, photography, illustration, or music that expresses their feelings on a social issue that matters to them.
