To have a passport application processed, customers will need to bring a completed passport application form DS-11, proof of U.S. citizenship and photo identification. Passport Acceptance Center staff will ask about the kind of passport the customer needs and how soon they need it. The staff then reviews the paperwork and takes the applicant's photo if they have not brought one. Finally, the completed application is sent to the Department of State for approval.

While no appointment is necessary, the time required to complete the application process may cause wait times.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library is located at 901 G St. NW, near the Metro Center and Gallery Place Metro Stations. All applicants must be present. The DC Public Library does not accept passport renewals and does not process emergency passports that are needed in less than three weeks.
