Poets of all ages are eligible to enter and may submit up to two haikus. Prize-winners will take home library swag and eternal glory. Winning poems will be posted in the library and on the Library website in May.

Create your own 17-syllable masterpiece on one of the following topics:

· A DC moment / observed in DC

· Something that you are grateful for

· Seasons, or

· Something small and wild.

What is a Haiku?

Haikus traditionally have three lines of 5 syllables/7 syllables/5 syllables, though that isn’t an absolute rule. All haiku are brief and expressive.
