Beguiled Into Beading

When my Dad passed away a few years ago, I was devastated with grief, and driven from home by engulfing memories.  So after work, I began to wander the malls, the stores, the theaters…. I happened on a craft store that held my interest for a while. Browsing around, I noticed classes of all kinds were being offered, and, to while away the hours, signed up for a two-hour class on beading that was starting just then.

And that has made all the difference!

I find this kaleidoscopic world of colors and shapes and sizes and textures absolutely fascinating.  Putting them together transports one into wondrous worlds of creativity.

Now I could not wait to rush home and start on my beading projects. Many an evening has flown by where I was engrossed up to the wee hours! What can I say? It is like meditation, like going somewhere deep into yourself and bringing out the beauty that lies curled up, waiting to be awakened.

I found beading buddies along the way, learned of beading events, hosted beading clubs, full of unbelievably generous people who shared their skills, knowledge and techniques.

Youtube has several useful videos you can learn from.  There are many bead suppliers who offer free online tutorials. And there are fabulous shows such as the International Gem And Jewelry Shows that appear in major cities on a regular basis.
