Riveting Western Saga: "The Devil's Paintbox"

The Devil's Paintbox by Victoria McKernan does not flinch from describing the harsh conditions of post-civil war Kansas and the life and death risks of moving west by wagon train.  The Adult Discussion Group of Teen Literature will discuss this highly acclaimed western adventure on Monday, June 28, at 4 p.m.

Avid Readers Make Waves for Summer Reading

Join the Teen Book Share June 30

Teens ages 12 and up are joining Make Waves for Summer Reading at the Palisades Library. This summer, teens will set their own reading goals and receive prizes during their Teen Book Share monthly meetings. At the next meeting on June 30 at 3:30pm, participants will discuss their favorite books and express themselves artistically through sand art.

The Mystery of Memory

On June 23 at 3:30pm, the Speak Easy Salon will meet to discuss a true story from David Grann's new book The Devil and Sherlock Holmes: Tales of Murder, Madness, and Obsession. The story "Which Way Did He Run?" describes the agony of a firefighter, sole survivor of his company, who can't remember what happened.

Children's Book Club at Palisades

Children in grades K & 1 have been participating in a weekly book club at the Palisades Library.Each Tuesday at 4:00 pm, Children's Librarian Miss Lorraine chooses a book to read aloud based on participants' interests and combines the story with related games and activities.

Poetry Contest Winners

The winners of the Palisades Library Poetry Contest have been announced. We had several stellar poems submitted this year. In fact, there were so many wonderful poems that we added a new category to the contest, the 6-7 age group category. Rich characterizations and descriptions of place create much to ponder and lead to a satisfying read.

Celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Month

Thailand is the focus of this month's Speak Easy Salon on Wednesday, May 26 at 3:30pm . Please join us for a discussion of Fieldwork by Mischa Berlinski. This mystery takes place in northern Thailand and focuses on an American couple consumed with finding the murderer of an anthropologist. Ms. Rosenblatt will discuss and show photos of her trip to places mentioned in the book.

Will you get caught reading?  Come by Palisades Library, get caught reading, and help fill the baby pool with rubber ducks.  At the end of May, you may take your duck home.
