Winter Read20 Six Word Short Story Contest

Middle and High Schoolers -- Submit a Six Word Story to Win Prizes!

Legend has it Ernest Hemingway wrote this six word short story as a challenge: "For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn."

Now, we challenge you to write your own six word short story. Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2020 via this Google Form. Individuals may submit twice. Stories must be exactly six words to qualify. Winners will be selected by DC Public Library employees, notified by and announced Jan. 24. Winning stories will be shared on DC Public Library social media, credited to their authors by first name, last initial and age group.

Prizes are as follows:

Middle School (GRADES 6-8)
1st Place - Robotics Kit and DC Public Library Ear Buds
2nd Place - $15 to All about Burger and DC Public Library Ear Buds
3rd Place - $10 to All about Burger

High School (GRADES 9-12)
1st Place - JanSport Galaxy Backpack and DC Public Library Ear Buds
2nd Place - $15 to All about Burger and DC Public Library Ear Buds
3rd Place - $10 to All about Burger
