Are you scratching your head trying to figure out what to do about those old costumes in your closet?Are your kids tired of being Superman for Halloween again?Then join us at the library for a costume swap! Bring your gently used and clean costumes to the library starting Sept. 26 during regular library hours. You'll receive a voucher for every item you bring in. On Saturday, Oct. 1, bring your voucher back to the Southeast Library and pick out a free costume from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Hurricane Irene may delay the opening ceremonies of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall, but you can still explore the history of the 1963 march on Washington and the famous "I have a dream" speech in the comfort of your own home using the library's subscription to historic black newspapers.

Make Your Own Superhero

Ever dreamed of being a Superhero?  Then attend a "Make Your Own Superhero - Comic Book Character Drawing Workshop" at Southeast Library on Friday, July 22, at 4 p.m. Children ages 6-12 are invited to create their own superhero characters with a secret and public identity, costume and mission.
