STAR Family Festival: Sing, Talk & Read

The DC Public Library Sing, Talk & Read Family Festival hosted hundreds of families on September 7, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Deanwood Library and Recreation Center.

This event, hosted in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation, celebrated the importance of early literacy and how parents can help their child prepare for kindergarten. The Deanwood Library and Recreation Center was transformed into a play space where families participated in early literacy activities, enjoyed live performances, and interacted with community partners.

This year's festival featured performances by Latin Grammy Award-winning 123 Andrés and Christina, Pacific Rhythm - Polynesian Entertainment and a special station honoring Books from Birth program graduates. Additionally, guests received a copy of Sing With Me D.C.: A book of nursery rhymes for children from DC Public Libraryillustrated by D.C. artist Carlos Carmonamedina
