STAR Family Festival: Sing, Talk & Read

Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, 11 a.m.

The DC Public Library Sing, Talk & Read Family Festival will host hundreds of kids and families on September 7, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Deanwood Library and Recreation Center.

This event, hosted in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation, will celebrate the importance of early literacy and how parents can help their child prepare for kindergarten. The Deanwood Neighborhood Library and the Deanwood Recreation Center will be transformed into a play space where families can participate in a number of early literacy activities, enjoy live performances, and interact with key community partners. This year's festival will feature a performance by Latin Grammy Award-winning 123 Andrés and Christina, a ceremony honoring Books from Birth program graduates and a celebration of the millionth book delivered to D.C. families through the Books from Birth free books program! Additionally, the first 300 guests will receive a copy of Sing With Me D.C.: A book of nursery rhymes for children from DC Public Library, illustrated by D.C. artist Carlos Carmonamedina

Guests will also have an opportunity to interact with D.C.'s incredible community of support behind early education.
