Library-Con: Anime, Comics, Manga, and Beyond

Join us for Petworth’s annual Library-Con!  This event is a multi-generational program that will provide information and expose the world of anime/manga, comics, Star Wars, and more to the DC community. We will have special offerings such as a door prizes for children and a free raffle for teens and adults. Cosplay/costumes are welcome! Bring oral histories to life

Dive into the history of our city and revive decades' worth of oral histories from the Library's Special Collections in this unique three-hour workshop on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 p.m. You'll learn the basics of working with oral histories while cutting a raw interview from the March on Washington 50th Anniversary Oral History Project into a short, engaging piece to share with the whole world.

Sign Up for March's Digital Audio Storytelling Workshop

Held Wednesday March 9, March 16, and March 23 in the Studio Lab

Learn the basics of audio storytelling! The workshop will consist of three 90-minute classes meeting once a week for three consecutive weeks in the Studio Lab.  We encourage every student to come to each class, as the information will be cumulative. December PC Basics Computer Classes

December 7th at 10:30am Beginner Class—To introduce you to the basic terminology of the computer, and to acquire key navigational skills in the Windows environment.   You will learn to: Identify basic computer components and operating system features. Execute basic mouse techniques. Perform basic keyboard strokes and functions.

You are cordially invited to attend the Tuesday morning computer classes at the Southwest Library. Classes start at 10 a.m. and end at noon.  The December sessions include Microsoft Excel (December 1), Microsoft PowerPoint (December 8), Introduction to Personal Computers (December 15) and Internet Basics (December 29).  Please note that class will not be held on December 22.

"Petworth Pacers": Outdoor walking fitness meets every 1st & 3rd Wednesday at 4:00pm (December 2nd & 16th). Please bring your own water bottle, wear comfortable, weather-appropriate attire & gym shoes--Indoor workouts planned for cold/inclement weather!
