A New Creative Space Emerges

Woodridge kicked off the New Year with a burst of creativity at Zine Lab on Jan. 8. Presented with support from DC Zinefest, which moved to the neighborhood last summer with its 8th Annual Fest at Art Enables, Zine Lab provides a creative space for anyone curious about zines, or already making them, to brainstorm and get to work at the library. We're continuing the flow of ideas with two more Zine Labs this spring, open to Teens and Adults. Mark your calendars for:

Creative minds gathering at Capitol View

The colder weather has heated up the creativity here at Capitol View Library. With a host of one of a kind crafts for children, teens, and adults of all ages, it has been quite a fun winter season of activity thus far. Our Tuesday and Thursday “It’s Crochet Time” program participants have been hard at work designing and carefully bringing to life hand-woven creations just in time for winter sharing and warming up. DIY Button and Book Marker Making

Want to wear your message to the world on your shoulder?  Don't wait until February to make your mark.  Come to a special post-Kwanzaa/Get-Ready-for-Black-History-Month DIY craft for teens at the Parklands-Turner Library. Saturday, Jan. 13 from 1 - 3 p.m., teens will immortalize powerful, meaningful images and words as they design their own buttons and book markers to wear during Black History Month and beyond.

Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 3:30 PM.  DISCOVER THE ART OF FASHION SEWING!  Join us for a D.I.Y. pencil skirt and neck tie sewing workshop, led by Jamila Madyun, Savannah College of Art & Design graduate. Play Dough Play Day

Celebrate National Play Dough Day on September 16!

September 16 is National Play Dough Day! Join us on Monday, Sept. 14 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Children ages 2.5 - 4 years old will LOVE squishing, kneading and creating new things with dough. Ms. Tea will follow a simple non-toxic recipe that requires no cooking, and provide other resources and household items as dough modeling tools to prompt creative thinking/exploration.
