Abe Lincoln at Last

Abe Lincoln in Children's Literature

While most children are introduced to American history in the classroom, it’s never too early to introduce them to historical figures, like President Abraham Lincoln! Living in Washington, D.C. makes his presence even more obvious, for many.

December's Tough Topic-- Empathy and Charity ("Giving Versus Getting")

A specially curated selection of materials to facilitate family discussion.

The month of December sparks within some people feelings of warmth, cheer, anticipation and celebration. Within others, it may stir up feelings of depression or anxiety and obligation. Additionally, the winter holiday season brings with it long-established social customs, commercials, advertisements, store displays and other promotional marketing that can easily seduce children into an "expectation of receiving" without any appreciation for the many privileges they enjoy.
