Reminder to all mature and motivated persons who are fabulous at 50+ years old: Save these dates and join us at Petworth Neighborhood Library each month for free films, fitness and learning! "Petworth Pacers": Outdoor walking fitness meets every 1st & 3rd Wednesday at 4:00pm (December 2nd & 16th). Please bring your own water bottle, wear comfortable, weather-appropriate attire & gym shoes--Indoor workouts planned for cold/inclement weather!

This rat (Reny) was so inspired by his favorite chef Auguste Gusteau to do what he loves most —-to cook. His family and friends thought that he was weird for being a rat who wanted to cook. But everyday he watched Chef Auguste Gusteau talk about why it’s so important to believe in yourself, and Remy knew nothing is impossible. Join us for  a fun  afternoon our movie  program on Wednesday, November 25 at 3:00 p.m. All Ages.

Infinite Possibilities International Film Series

The Library is partnering with Infinite Possibilities International for a five-week film series. The viewing and discussion of international films will engage and expose both adults and youth on issues of urban life, community building, wildlife and other interesting topics in other cultures. The proposed films include mixture of adult and youth/family films in alternating weeks.

Against a background of the Rio carnival, a black tram driver accidentally kills his girlfriend, and after seeking her in the nether regions, kills himself to be with her. It’s the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice set in Rio de Janeiro at Carnival time. Winner of the 1959 Academy Award for best foreign language film.  Pick up a copy of Ovid’s Metamorphoses at the library – we will be reading the 10 or so pages dedicated to the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. As always, there will be popcorn.
