Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library, Sept.15-Oct. 15. Bring your child to a special Bilingual Storytime on Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. and have fun with a craft project afterwards. Join us for a children's movie showing on Oct.12 at 2 p.m.  Find new books honoring Hispanic heritage in our book displays throughout the month.

Book bundles for Hispanic Heritage Month

Small collections of children's books that celebrate Hispanic culture!

Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Library is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and our Children's librarians have curated book bundles with contents in either English, Spanish, or bilingual for all our users to discover and enjoy Hispanic culture and authors.  Each bundle includes 5-7 fiction and non-fiction titles, picture books and audiobooks. Have questions or additional requests? Talk to the children's librarian!

An engaging resource for children and families seeking to celebrate la Latinidad.

DCPL children's collection contains hundreds of excellent children books that reflect the Latino experience. The following list brings together stories either written or illustrated by Latino authors and artists or tales that explore Latino characters and cultural identity. I have included an assortment of English, Spanish or bilingual titles in hopes that this list becomes a resource for children and families who want to read great stories that celebrate La Latinidad.

Please join us for a special story time at MLK on Monday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! We will hear the story of the Goat in the Chile Patch, a New Mexican folktale, in flannel board format. We will hear bilingual stories in Spanish and English and sing songs.

Featured Artist: The Joe Falero Latin Quartet

Mt. Pleasant Library - Sunday, October 4 at 2:30 p.m.  The Joe Falero Latin Quartet will perform live music such as:  Latin Jazz, Salsa, Merengue, ChaCha, Cumbia, and Bolero. Bandleader, Joe Falero is a veteran percussionist with the ability to blend different styles of Latin music.  Come and learn the history of these rhythms and enjoy an afternoon of jazz!
