Self Defense Class During Women's History Month

In celebration of Women's History Month, a self defense class will be taught at Benning Neighborhood Library on Tuesday, March 15, from 6-8 p.m. This two hour session will be led by D'Angelo Kinard of Advanced Sports Performance and will teach basic self defense techniques to use in various situations. There will be an emphasis on defending against larger/stronger assailants. A waiver must be signed by each participant before class to participate.

A Women's History Month Book Discussion Hosted by the Woodridge Library and Friends Book, March 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.

Come and join the Woodridge Library and Friend Book Club discussion of The Inventions of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd on March 20, 2016 at 3:00pm.  This  Oprah Book Club selection, follows Hetty "Handful" Grimke, a Charleston slave, and Sarah, the daughter of the wealthy Grimke family. The novel begins on Sarah's eleventh birthday, when she is given ownership over Handful, who is to be her handmaid.

Women's History Month March 2016

Come and join the celebration of Women's History Month by attending an invigorating lecture by the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA). A representative from NMWA will be visiting a few DCPL branches to discuss local women artists. No registration is required. Just show up, and bring your friends while you're at it.
