 Today, DC Public Library Executive Director Richard Reyes-Gavilan congratulated the New York Public Library and its leadership for their selection of the architecture firm Mecanoo to lead the $300 million renovation of the Mid-Manhattan Library and Stephen A. Schwarzman building.

This year, you can try a limited number of the beverages at local restaurants leading up to the September 25 event.   Zaytinya, Jack Rose Dining Saloon and Mockingbird Hill are featuring banned-book themed cocktails leading up to the September 25 event at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.  

Washington City Paper Writes About The Labs at DC Public Library

Recently, the Washington City Paper visited two new spaces at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. The Fabrication Lab, or Fab Lab, is a 900-square-foot space that features materials, tools and technology to allow for hands-on exploration and learning by doing. Customers will be able to use equipment like 3-D printers, laser cutters, computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and soldering equipment.

Library Provides Update on Language Outreach Programs and Services at Board of Library Trustee Meeting

In keeping with the DC Language Access Act of 2004, the Library will update the public on the programs and services offered to the Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, Korean, French and Vietnamese speaking communities as outlined in the Language Access Plan for Fiscal Year 2013.  The update will take place at the Board of Library Trustees meeting on July 20 at 6 p.m.
