Have you heard about In the Zone? Every third Tuesday here at Tenley, we have a special program where we do something a little...different. This month, we made decorative cupcakes out of tissue papers, sequins, beads, and lots and lots of glitter! For next month’s In the Zone, join Ms. Shelley and celebrate Mardi Gras! Make your own masquerade mask, eat King Cake, and be sure to join in the parade around the library! See you there.

Martin Luther King Jr. ASL Story Time

Celebrate MLK Day this year with a special story time

Celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with Adaptive Services and People Animals Love here at the Tenley Library. Deaf Services Librarian Janice Rosen will be hosting a special story time in American Sign Language for ages 3 to 5 featuring books showcasing the life and ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A sign language interpreter will interpret Ms. Rosen’s reading. Afterward, children are welcome to meet and read with therapy dogs from People Animals Love (PAL).

Friendship Hospital for Animals Client Education Series

Osteoarthritis in senior dogs

On Dec. 15 in the Large Meeting Room at 7 p.m., Dr. Amanda McMurphy will present an overview of the clinical signs and diagnostic tests used to identify osteoarthritis in older dogs. Joined by rehabilitation specialist Janay Austin-Carlson, the discusssion will also include ways to improve joint function and help relieve pain. Free and open to the human public - no pets please!

International Games Day and a preview of future events

Recently, Tenley Library participated in International Games Day.  This is an annual event that celebrates gaming in libraries both here in the United States and across the world.  Tenley was one of several libraries that day which celebrated the event, and this was the first year that the library participated.

This winter break, between Dec. 21 and Jan. 3, elementary and middle school students who visit their neighborhood branch can be eligible to receive a Chipotle gift card for sharing their winter reading with their librarian.  


Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Kids come join us Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. as we make snowmen out of marsmallows and other delicious treats while we listen to and sing holiday songs.        In the Zone is held the third Tuesday of each month for kids to kick back and enjoy games, crafts, or other fun.
