"Henry in Love"

So cute! The storyline is sparse,  but this book is all in the details.  Henry reveals a lot about his crush through his actions.  Small children will be sure to read the emotion on the character's faces.

Afternoon Arts and Crafts

This month we are making Mexican papel picado.  These are traditional party decorations involving intricate paper cutting.  Arts and Crafts at Shepherd Park are the first Wednesday of the month at 4:30 pm.  All ages are welcome and you do not need to sign up ahead of time. 

Library Open

The Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Library is closed for the rest of the day due to a power outage.  If power is restored, the library will re-open on Friday, Aug. 13.  Please check back for updates.

Black Voices Book Club One-Year Anniversary

Dear Neighbors,September marks the one-year anniversary of the Black Voices Book Club at the Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Library, and we want you to join us.he book club meets the third Monday of the month, from 7 to 8:45 p.m., on the second floor of the library.  The book club focuses on fiction authored by African-American, Caribbean, and African authors.  Books we select are available in the DC Public Library System and are placed on hold for club members to check out. 

Water Party

Come Celebrate the End of Summer

Shepherd Park will be hosting a water party on August 11th at 4pm.  Dress to get wet!  We will also have chalk art and bubbles.  All ages are invited and you do not need to call ahead.  Please call Anina at 541-5917 if you have any questions.

Teens: Interactive Sculpture Workshop
