Yoga for Kids and Teens

Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Tomorrow is the first Wednesday of the month, when we usually have all ages crafts at 4:30 pm. However, tomorrow on January 6th,  Kati Nolfi of the Martin Luther King Jr. Library will be teaching a class on basic Yoga for all ages.  We will have arts and crafts for all ages on Wednesday, January 13th at 4:30 pm. 

Holiday Movie Screening

Wednesday December 23 at 4:30 p.m.

Come join us for snacks, holiday crafts, and movies.  We will be showing Elf and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

Free National Children's Museum Program December 16

The National Children’s Museum is offering a free parent/child workshop at Shepherd Park Library.  The workshop is based on their book, Family Literacy Projects on a Budget. The workshop will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16.  Museum staff will present reading activities and ideas for  book based art projects using recycled materials. The National Children's Museum will provide materials for the projects. The workshop is open to everyone in the community and for parents, children, and educators of all ages.

Holiday Crafts

We will be making holiday crafts for all ages in the activity room on Dec. 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Please join us in making cards and handmade gifts for loved ones.  All ages are welcome.Call Anina at 202-541-5917 with questions. 

Eco Crafts Workshop

Presented by the National Children's Museum

The National Children’s Museum is offering a free parent/child workshop at Shepherd Park Library.  The workshop if based on their book Family Literacy Projects on a Budget. The workshop will be held from 6-8:30 pm on Wednesday December 16th.  Museum staff will present reading activities and ideas for complementary creative art projects using recycled materials.

Build Your Child’s Vocabulary provides tips for helping your preschooler learn new words.Tips include substituting synonyms (with examples), reinforcing the alphabet and rhyming.For more information, visit the preschoolers’ page.

GED Test Prep

Through the Testing and Education Reference Center, the library offers three timed, full-length GED practice tests in English and two in Spanish. The site also provides Master the GED, a book with subject reviews, test-taking tips and test strategies.  Other resources on the site are Word of the Day, a Quick Quiz, Tips and Strategies, and Test Info, Dates and Deadlines.
