Know Your Power with Writopia Lab

In these hour-long workshops held over WebEx, published authors, poets and playwrights will guide teens ages 13 - 19 in authoring their own work of creative writing based on a social issue that they are passionate about. All workshops are multi-genre (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and plays may be explored). Sessions are peppered with original and fun writing exercises to get the creative juices flowing and help writers to reflect on social issues impacting youth today.

This will be a chance for beginning level signers to meet and practice conversing and learn some basic signing skills, vocabulary words and rules of grammar. Although the focus is on beginners, everyone is welcome to join the class, regardless of skill level.

Reigning for over two hundred years, Jane Austen is one of the most beloved novelists of the English language. In this book club, we will read novels and watch movies related to her work. People and Stories: Reading Deeply in Community

DC Public Library, in partnership with People and Stories/Gente y Cuentos: Reading Deeply in Community, invites you to participate in a program of reading and discussing short stories online.  Through oral readings and rigorous discussions of enduring short stories, participants find fresh understandings of themselves, of others and of the world.  We will meet via web conference on Wednesdays, noon – 1:30 p.m. The discussion will be facilitated by Janice Rosen, Librarian, Center for Accessibility, in American Sign Language and voice.
