Indigenous Peoples Day Hours

A library location will be open in each ward on Monday, Oct. 14 in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. Neighborhood libraries will be open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library will be open from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

  • Ward 8 – Anacostia Library

The DC Public Library is open online for customers 365 days a year! Access digital resources and watch live and pre-recorded virtual programs on Youtube. *Specialty departments like the Adult Learning Department, Center for Accessibility, the Labs at DC Public Library and The People's Archive are not open on holidays.

ABCmouse is a fun and educational website geared towards children 2 to 8+. The site features books, interactive educational games, puzzles, videos, songs, and artwork that teaches reading and language arts, math, science, social studies, art and music. Spanish language activities are also available in the “Things to Do” section. 



ABCmouse can be accessed in the library or at home.

When ABCmouse is accessed from home, it can be shared by up to three children in a household, each with their own avatar, profile, and progress-tracking on the ABCmouse Step-by-Step Learning Path.  The first time you visit you will be prompted to create an account using an email address and password. Follow the steps to add children and complete the optional assessment. 

When inside a library use the "Visit ABCmouse at the Library" button.
