Beginning May 1 2025, temporary library cards will no longer have access to Kanopy and Kanopy Kids. If you have a temporary card and would like to utilize the platform, please visit your closest neighborhood library to validate your account and transition to a permanent library card (for more information on validating your card, please visit our Get A Card page).
This decision was made as part of our efforts to manage rising costs and ensure we can continue offering a broad range of valuable digital resources to all of our customers. We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to maintain a sustainable and inclusive library service for everyone.
Each month you get 20 tickets to watch shows & movies on Kanopy. Titles range between 1-4 tickets each. Your tickets reset on the first day of the month, and unused tickets don't roll over to the next month. Stream Kanopy on your computer or download the app on your phone, tablet or Roku device. Kanopy Kids does not use tickets and card holders have unlimited views.

- Go to DC Public Library's Kanopy site
- Add your library card
- Create a Kanopy account
- Start watching videos!
- Tip: In Kanopy click Search to be able to filter movies by #of tickets
