Emancipation Day Hours

A neighborhood library will be open in each ward on Tuesday, Apr. 16 in observance of Emancipation Day. Neighborhood libraries will be open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library will be open from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Adult Learner Book Discussion

We offer an adult learner book discussion called A Feel for Books. A Feel for Books is an ongoing book discussion series for adult developing readers and their tutors and teachers. Sessions are open to any adult learner in The District and are held in October, December, February, April and May/June.

Adult Education Directory

The Literacy Helpline provides information about available adult literacy education and English as a Second Language programs, and referrals to these programs for walk-in and telephone customers.
