Are you planning an event? DC Public Library has partnered with the DC Office of Planning to bring you their Event Lending Library to the Labs at MLK Library. The Lending Library has two (2) kits that supplies equipment to host a party, meeting or other event being held in a public space.
Discover the “Culture & Heritage” or “Play & Socialization” kits for your next gathering. Kits are available by reservation only. A completed Labs Participant Release Form (bring your valid government-issued ID and DC Public Library Card) and reviewing the Labs Safety Guidelines are required before borrowing the kits.
- An active DC Public Library card is required.
- Completing a Labs Participant Release Form is required.
- The loan period for the kits is seven (7) days.
- Check-out and check-in is 1 p.m. through 5 p.m. only, check-out and check-in is not available on holidays or when the Labs are closed.
- Items in kits shall be returned in the same condition and free of any debris, normal wear and tear excepted, as when borrowed.
- Staff may not assist in the transportation of kits and their items.

Please be aware that the MLK Library has limited metered street parking. Allow extra time to look for street parking and to transfer items to and from your vehicle. We recommend bringing a friend and a rolling cart to assist with transporting the borrowed items.
The DC Office of Planning encourages DC residents to make use of DC’s public parks, neighborhood plazas and other open spaces for their community needs and gatherings.
