Donella Brockington retired in 2019 after a 30-year career in the private sector at Lockheed Martin, Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), Xerox, and Conduent Incorporated. Her prior positions include Vice President and Client Executive for the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland, Vice President of Company Operations, Vice President of Company Marketing, and head of the Municipal Services operation for the District of Columbia.

Prior to joining the private sector, Donella served as Real Property Administrator for the District of Columbia Government, supervising the District’s real estate transactions.  Before that, she served as Senior Operations Analyst for the District, where she developed a replacement program for commercial water meters and was responsible for eliminating a backlog of 20,000 water billing accounts.  She began her professional career as a Senior Health Systems Analyst for the Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia.

Donella serves as chair of the Advisory Board of Posse DC and as a member of The Posse Foundation’s National Board. She also is a member of the board of directors of the Recreation Wish List Committee. A former two-term President of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, she currently serves on the Council’s Women’s Advisory Board.  Prior to joining the Board of Library Trustees, she was a mayoral appointee to the District of Columbia Commission for Women, where she served as Vice-Chair. Her previous board service also includes the DC Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Greater Washington, the United States Tennis Association, and the Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund.

Donella is a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2001 Inaugural Heroines in Technology Lifetime Achievement Award from the March of Dimes.  Notably, she was selected as a 2010/2011 Professional Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women, as Leadership Greater Washington’s 2010 Volunteer of the Year, and as one of the Washington Business Journal’s 2017 Women Who Mean Business.
