Indigenous Peoples Day Hours

A library location will be open in each ward on Monday, Oct. 14 in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. Neighborhood libraries will be open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library will be open from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The DC Public Library is open online for customers 365 days a year! Access digital resources and watch live and pre-recorded virtual programs on Youtube. *Specialty departments like the Adult Learning Department, Center for Accessibility, the Labs at DC Public Library and The People's Archive are not open on holidays.

Each library has a variety of tables and chairs and lounge areas with ample outlets for keeping your device charged. Many libraries also have outdoor spaces like patios, balconies and even an Instagram-worthy rooftop garden at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Reservable Workspace

Need a quiet space to focus, a place to set up a call with your remote team a collaborative space to meet in person? DC Public Library has a variety of study and meeting rooms that can accommodate solo work and meetings. Many rooms are also outfitted with collaborative tools like whiteboards and AV for hybrid meetings or presentations. All you need is a current DC Public Library card to reserve a room at a library near you. 

Creative and Technology Driven Workspace

The Labs at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library have creative and technology-driven workspaces where you can record audio for your podcast, make a 3D print of your latest prototype, design a logo with Adobe Creative suite and more.

Have a Power Lunch

Marianne’s Café by DC Central Kitchen at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library is open when the library is open so you can get caffeinated for your morning meeting, catch up with a colleague over lunch, snag an afternoon snack and more.

Computer Classes

The Library offers a variety of free computer classes on Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and more to help you master everything from pivot tables in Excel to wowing everyone with your next Google Slides presentation. 

Design and Technology Classes

The Labs at MLK Library offer regular orientations and trainings on the technology and equipment in their spaces from 3-D printing to Adobe Creative Suite. 

Business Classes

The Library partners with organizations like the Department of Small and Local Business Development's Innovation and Equitable Development (Inno.ED) team, DC Human Resources and the DC Small Business Development Center at Howard University to provide one on one assistance, career workshops and small business planning courses.

Access free WiFi at all 26 DC Public Library Locations. 

Free Printing, Copying and Scanning

You can print, copy or scan up to 20 pages a day at no cost with your DC Public Library Card. 

Public Access Computers

Each library has public computers available for up to 70 minute sessions - or if you just need to look something up quickly, 15 minute express sessions!

Design Computers

The Labs at DC Public Library offer computers specifically outfitted to support design and audiovisual production with applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Online Resources

In addition to the many physical books available for checkout, DC Public Library offers a suite of online business resources to help you achieve all of your work-related goals, including:
