Northwest One Library is happy to announce free tax return preparation Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning Feb. 10 and continuing until April 13. All middle- and low-income taxpayers are invited to take advantage of free, first-come, first-served tax preparation by IRS-certified tax preparers. Update: There will be no tax return preparation on Friday, March 16 at Northwest One Library. View alternative sites.

The holiday season is upon us once more, so now is as good a time as ever to check out cookbooks from the library. Before pouring through recipes, be sure to take advantage of the wonderful Thanksgiving Turkey baskets provided by our friends at the North Capitol Collaborative and Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative. The collaboratives will be distributing turkey baskets, clothing, books, toiletries and more to any D.C. resident on a first come, first serve basis.
Halloween is here! Stop by the library on Monday afternoon before trick or treating. We'll have sinister snacks and creepy crafts for all to enjoy. Come get zombiefied and participate in our 2nd annual zombie parade around Northwest One Library and R.H. Terrell Recreation Center. Drop in right after school because we've got pumpkins and books to give away and they are sure to go fast. The party begins at 3:30 p.m.
