Whether with a bang or a whimper, people have been speculating about how the world will end since it began. Literature is no stranger to this speculation and offers up many scenarios for how our society as we know it will come to an end -- and how what’s left of humanity will deal with the aftermath. Bring your child to a special Bilingual Storytime on Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. and have fun with a craft project afterwards. Join us for a children's movie showing on Oct.12 at 2 p.m.  Find new books honoring Hispanic heritage in our book displays throughout the month.

C.R. Gibbs Lecture Series on African American History and Culture

In celebration of Black History Month, distinguished historian C.R. Gibbs will deliver presentations throughout February. The award-winning historian, humanities scholar and exhibitor of artifacts has appeared at DC Public Library since 1989. He has spoken at the Smithsonian's Anacostia Museum, Arena Stage, colleges/universities and other venues locally, nationally and internationally.
