Come celebrate the chilly season at a party with stories, crafts, games and a movie at the end. This program is for all ages. 

PanLara Holiday Concert & Steel Pan Workshop

PanLara is an organization that provides an arts and cultural forum for youth from diverse communities in the, D.C. metropolitan area. PanLara Youth Steel Orchestra’s aim is to share their African Caribbean culture through steel pan music. The group was recently featured on WPFW Radio Program’s “Live @5”, Fox5 News DC and the inaugural DC Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival. Join PanLara for this interactive, holiday steel pan concert! Hot Cocoa Literacy Lounge

Keep your child's early literacy skills sharp this winter break! Register online for DC Public Library's Winter Reading Program and bring your eager and reluctant readers in Kindergarten,1st and 2nd grade to the library on Wednesday, December 28 at 11a.m. for some yummy hot cocoa (with marshmallows!) as they read aloud from some of our most popular Easy Readers (at levels that are most appropriate for each child).

Get A Clue - A Winter Scavenger Hunt!

Calling all super sleuths ages 8 to 12: On Tuesday, December 27 at 2:30 p.m., we are hosting a winter scavenger hunt! Your mission is to complete several physical challenges and solve our series of clues to win the final prize. You and your friends have 70 minutes to finish! It's a Winter Wonderland

Winter is almost upon us. Come visit the Dorothy I. Height  Neighborhood Library and discover winter magic through fun activities including story time, movies, edible crafts and a winter wonderland village. For all ages. The Winter Village Display begins December 2, 2016. All programs are free and open to the public.

Gingerbread House Decorating Party

Join us in constructing and decorating gingerbread houses in celebration of the holiday season. All the tasty treats you need will be provided, along with some basic hints on how to make something sturdy and beautiful. RSVP to Faith at if you plan on coming.

Kids ages 6 & up: Celebrate winter at the library with snowy stories & activities, and the chance to make your very own snow globe to take home with you. Snow globe supplies provided, but limited -- first come, first served.
